Not in the slighest. Hate the whole jazz genre so never studied the field more than necessary and certainly never played any unless forced too. Plus, painists for that kinda thing normally end up just being backing for whoever is playing brass/woodwind (yes, despite being made of brass the Saz is calssed as woodwind on account that it is played with a reed fixed to its mouthpiece). As a result, a pianist i nthat capacity is required to just play what is written and leave the fancy stuff to the instrumentalist. I can understand a solo jazz pianist wanting to make their mark on a piece though so, if doen correctly, a piece can be varied (as can any regardless of its genre) but like I said, I studied the classics and contempory side and never touched jazz/swing unless I absolutely HAD too.

If we're on this subject, i'm a guitarist, we don't come up with ideas, we're mere slaves to our own vanity and just play whatever's easiest to play whilst trying to get a good rock n roll stance... err yup

ahh, see this is where being a drumming is great...im happy to talk about other things, and anything that anyone else wants to really...but as for ideas...us drummers dont come up with ideas, we sit there and hit things. thats my defence
